Wayne Shorter (saxophone), Terri Lyne Carrrington (drums), Leo Genovese (piano) and Esperanza Spalding (bass and vocals) assembled together for the single performance at the 2017 Detroit Jazz Festival on the Carhartt Amphitheater Stage, playing compositions by Shorter, Milton Nascimento and Geri Allen.
Reflecting on the performance and the record, Shorter shared, "We are trying to crack the ceiling in some way. All the music has something to do with becoming more human, not a great musician."
Limited to 1,000 copies, the VMP exclusive edition of Live at the Detroit Jazz Festival is pressed on 2LP Opaque Metallic Gold vinyl at Independent Record Pressing. The record will arrive in a gatefold direct-to-board, foil stamped and numbered jacket.
