As the Civil Rights movement flared into being in the early '60s, many Black artists wondered how their art could speak to what was happening out there, in buses, and at lunch counters. Max Roach, and his then-wife and creative partner Abbey Lincoln were among the first jazz musicians to have an answer: We Insist! a towering achievement in jazz, and one that speaks to how even if the times are bleak, we can get through, together. VMP Classics number 93, this is strictly limited to 2k units, and has been remastered AAA by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound.
