Nancy Sinatra first met Lee Hazlewood in 1965. Not long afterwards, he wrote and produced what would become her first number one hit, "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'." While Hazlewood first remained behind the scenes for their collaborations, it didn't take long for him to join her in the vocal booth for their first duet, "Sand." From there, the duo continued releasing one-off singles alongside each other. Eventually, an entire album seemed to be the next step for the two, culminating in Nancy & Lee. The album is a compilation of their early duets, many of which had appeared on Sinatra's solo albums, along with covers and originals written by Hazlewood.
