Mariah Carey's second album was a big gamble for her: She took more creative control of her music and injected more of the current sounds of R&B, like New Jack Swing (which comes out in the title track) and started injecting more of her own story into her songs. The album wouldn't be as much of a commercial juggernaut as her self-titled debut, but it's considered one of the 50 best R&B albums of the '90s for the way that Carey foresaw how R&B was going to be going. Emotions predicted so much of '90s R&B, it's almost a Rosetta Stone. It's back on vinyl here for the first time in nearly 30 years.
