Swedish singer-songwriter José González first emerged in the early 2000s through the success as the frontman of the band Junip. He released his solo studio debut album, Veneer, in 2003. Originally released in Sweden, it took two years before the album made its way to an international release.
Following the acclaim of his debut solo album Veneer, José González returned with his second offering, In Our Nature, in 2007. The sophomore release examines works by biologist Richard Dawkins and philosopher Peter Singer as inspiration for the album's lyrics. In the wake of his ever-rising success, González later on became the recipient of the European Border Breakers Awards the same year.
