Due out in February, LP5 is John Moreland's return to Thirty Tigers, and his first album since 2017's heartwrenching Big Bad Luv. LP5 was recorded in Denton, Texas, with Matt Pence as his producer, the album is of a piece with Big Bad Luv, in that it finds Moreland leaning away from the "sad bard of being lonely" rep he got with his first three albums. The first single, "East October," punctures some of that so that it can't linger on this album, which is in the running for Moreland's finest. He's one of the most affecting live performers we have; see him, buy this.
