João Donato's sound is difficult to pin down despite being rooted in Brazilian jazz and bossa nova. And while the genres he toes across may not be clear, one thing is – the pianist's music is deceptively simple, while his arrangements are harmonically complex.
The way he describes his music is a testament to his own essence. "It’s my style of music, the way I think about [music]. I don’t even think about it, it’s just the way I do things. I don’t know if it even has a name,” Donato shares.
