Eddie Suzuki’s humble beginning as a shoe shiner was merely a means to an end. With his earnings from the temporary occupation, he went on to blossom into a musical career, beginning with piano lessons and ending with a full-fledged band performing his own composed melodies. Collectively, Laurence Harada (guitar), John Schulmeister (bass), Gary Fittro (drums) and Nani Kuaiwa (vocals) joined Eddie Suzuki to form New Hawaii.
In 1973, Eddie Suzuki and New Hawaii recorded the album High Tide.
