A trailblazer in developing the Bakersfield sound, named after his hometown in California, Owens' sweet country twangs and fiddles carry a wave of nostalgia in the 12-track album. Leading singles like "Above and Beyond," "Second Fiddle" and more make the album a memorable one in the singer's discography. Producer Ken Nelson's hand is present on the album, and he would eventually come to collaborate with Owens throughout the latter's career.
