When John Mayer went into the studio to make Continuum he was a pop rock god with adoring fans but critics who doubted his actual chops; by the time Continuum was released, he was the radio's reigning guitar hero. Mayer went into the studio and recorded 12 songs of blues- and R&B-indebted rock, including a Jimi Hendrix cover and a fan favorite slow burner ("Slow Dancing in a Burning Room") and another hit single ("Waiting on the World to Change"). He's spent the last half-decade working with the Grateful Dead off and on, so it's hard to say what will go down as his most iconic musical release, but we'd put our money on this one.
