In this episode of Stax of Wax we decided to put a name to a sound that runs rampant in all music. This sound does not discriminate by era, genre, or even tempo. The sound we are speaking about is created by an analog recording technique (originally created in the pre-digital era in the 1940s) called "Tape Delay". By using two reel-to-reel recorders artists and producers could reverse their tracks, speed them up, slow them down, and even do all different kinds of time delay modulation to individual tracks and full mixes to create brand new sounds that would eventually define certain genres. We hope you find this episode of the all-vinyl Stax of Wax trippy, educational, and full of great music.
Mitch enjoys all things music and when he is not recording Stax of Wax, spinning records on his all-vinyl radio show Black Circle Radio, or learning how to be a dad, you can most likely find him very close to a pinball machine with a beer in hand.
