In this episode of Stax of Wax we tip our hats to the greatness of "The Band". A group that has inspired and influenced countless musicians of all genres since the 1960's. They have written and performed music that feels timeless, because it is. Lyrics that are able to evoke emotion from their listener, ignoring all decades and trends in popular culture. Chords and rhythms chosen that put minds in a romanticized trance of what it means to be human, to appreciate a neighbor. Only two members of the original lineup are still alive today, and we hope that this mix somehow finds their ears. This hour long program is dedicated to all five men who taught us the importance of taking a load off. This is the all-vinyl Stax of Wax.
Tyler is the co-founder of Vinyl Me, Please. He lives in Denver and listens to The National a lot more than you do.
