Buckle up, Lambily.
Just over a year ago, VMP issued the first US pressing of Mariah Carey’s iconic fourth studio album, Daydream, to overwhelming reception from fans and admirers. Today, available in the VMP store now, we bring you the first-ever vinyl reissues of Daydream’s two incredible, essential predecessors: Mariah's 1991 sophomore LP Emotions and its follow-up 1993’s Music Box.
While Emotions may not have been as wide-reaching as Daydream or Music Box, the album was an essential stepping stone for her career and clearly laid the groundwork for a vastly innovative sound indicative of how ‘90s R&B would develop through the decade. In addition to continuing to the pave the way for pop and R&B, Music Box became one of the best-selling albums throughout the history of recorded music and a home to smash hits “Hero” and “Dreamlover.” Both albums have remained out of print on vinyl since their original release, but they’re back, for the first time in nearly 30 years on gorgeous black smoke and cream vinyl.
We’ll also be featuring these two special reissues together as a bundle and bundled together with a copy of Mariah Carey’s brand new memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, which is out September 29 and will "finally tell the unfiltered story of her life in a way only she could."
These titles are Members Only for the first 48 hours, and on Friday, Sept 11 will be available to the general public
