Miami Memory
This time around, Alex Cameron is dropping the façade and making, for the first time, a very personal record, all masks off. It’s still pretty startling at first pass — it’s graphic, and complex, and can seem confrontational, but it is all very grounded, first and foremost in Alex’s love and admiration for his girlfriend, Jemima Kirke. In Alex’s own words, he tells us, "This album is dedicated to Jemima. When I started writing these songs in March 2018, I decided to focus on her. I wanted to create a shrine in her name. I wanted to stop telling stories about decrepit men, and instead offer my experiences of a strong woman….When you listen to these songs, and you're waiting for the twist, or the joke, or any kind discomfort, I can assure you none of those things were there when I wrote them. These are true stories, of actual events. Specific but never esoteric. And graphic but never offensive.”
