Description

Back when he himself was still a struggling songwriter--sure, the Beatles had shouted him out, but that didn't amount to actual sales--Harry Nilsson used the creative freedom written into his RCA contract to break another songwriter: A little-known L.A. songman named Randy Newman. Nilsson takes 10 Newman songs and breaks them down to their barest essentials, delivering one of the rawest albums of his catalog, while also putting Newman in front of a bigger audience. I'm the reason VMP is doing so much Nilsson this year--he's one of my favorite artists of all time--and getting to shine this light on titles in his catalog that have become Lost Sounds Found is one of the best things about working at VMP. If you like any of the Nilsson we've done, you owe it to yourself to get this one too.

The VMP exclusive version of Harry Nilsson's Nilsson Sings Newman is pressed on (AAA) 180g “Something New Under the Sun” vinyl at Memphis Record Pressing (MRP). The 1LP will arrive in a gatefold, tip-on, foil-stamped and numbered jacket. It was mastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound.
