Vinyl Me, Please Announces VMP Rock, First Rock-Oriented Subscription

On June 2, 2023

Our members have been asking for it for almost six years, and VMP is finally going to give it to them: Today, VMP is proud to announce our sixth subscription, VMP Rock. Joining Essentials, Classics, Hip-Hop, Country, and Vinyl Me, Parton, Rock has been by far the most requested subscription in VMP history.

Taking a wide view of what “Rock” music is, VMP Rock will offer its members a new title every month that celebrates the most world-changing genre of music of all time.

“It was important for us for VMP Rock to allow for the same exploration that our other subscriptions do, and not just become a classic rock record factory,” said VMP Senior Director of Music and Editorial Andrew Winistorfer. “We’ll include everything from metal to punk, alt-rock to Zamrock, psych-rock to indie rock, eventually. We hope VMP Rock allows its members to reconnect with some of their favorite albums, and discover pockets of rock history that are new to them.”

Pre-orders are available now on the Rock landing page. VMP Rock kicks off in July with a brand new exclusive edition of The Strokes’ landmark 2001 debut, Is This It. Remastered from original audio sources, it was cut by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound. It’s the first time that the entire album has been released on vinyl, as it includes “When it Started” and “NYC Cops.”

August’s Rock Record of the Month is 40oz to Freedom, the wide-ranging debut LP from Sublime. With liner notes by Jeff Weiss, it comes on exclusive blue vinyl and was also cut by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound. September is the vaunted Iggy Mix of Iggy and the Stooges’ 1973 masterpiece Raw Power, remastered AAA by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound on exclusive color vinyl.

In October, VMP Rock goes back to 2001 for System of a Down’s Toxicity, appearing here on exclusive red and black vinyl. November features the first reissue in years of Stone Temple Pilots’ fourth album, No. 4, on exclusive color vinyl, cut by Ryan Smith. And 2023 in VMP Rock ends with a 50th Anniversary edition of ZZ Top’s mammoth Tres Hombres, also on color vinyl and with lacquers cut by Ryan Smith.

Vinyl Me, Please is excited to partner with CREEM Magazine to celebrate the launch of the Rock subscription, and rock 'n' roll as a whole. In partnership with CREEM, 3-month + 6-month subscribers will receive a free month of digital access to "America's only rock 'n' roll magazine" (including the full archive from the 1960s-1980s and new issues from the magazine's reboot last year). 12-month subscribers will receive a free month of digital access, 25% off an annual print subscription, plus a free print issue of CREEM (while supplies last).

New Vinyl Me, Please Rock members will be able to sign up for 1, 3, 6 or 12 month engagements, and as part of VMP’s 10th Anniversary, multi-month subscribers will get bonus records as part of signing up. Current Vinyl Me, Please members will be able to add VMP Rock to their accounts from their membership page, and Swap for the VMP Rock titles.
